It is Time to Begin!!

Anticipated departure, March, 2011. Wow. It’s hard to believe that the time is almost here for the trip that’s been discussed since the kids were toddlers. A cross country RV trip.

I don’t remember who had the idea to do this trip—what I do remember is that I thought a cross country RV trip would be the perfect complement to homeschooling, and especially, American History. What better way to learn?

Pack everyone up and just take to the road for a couple of months. How exciting. Right? Well, the kids are now 16.5 (will be 17 by the time we leave), 13 and 11. No one is particularly excited. Except me---Mom.

I can’t wait to see Mt Rushmore. Yellowstone. The Grand Canyon. I’m looking forward to spending some time at Disneyworld and exploring the historical sites of Virginia.

Who wouldn’t want to see Lincoln’s childhood home in Illinois? Or Gettysburg? Philadelphia? The Library of Congress? I. CAN’T. WAIT.

There are many details to take care of prior to embarking on such an adventure.

It is time. Let the preparations begin!!!!! ☺

It's ok if you're the only one who's excited. They'll all survive ... and probably end up enjoying much of the trip anyway. :)

That is so exciting!! We did 87 days in our minivan around the country in the fall of 2009. We had the best time. Don't worry about the kids not being excited- they'll GET excited!! Can't wait to read about it! Michele (from SL)
