It all started with the snow. We started out at 9:00--right as big, fluffy flakes started to fall. The snow made Keith and I nervous and we both felt that stopping, even for a half an hour to visit my friend, was probably not a good idea. Regretfully, I had to call and cancel. The snow increased as we headed south until we were driving through slush, in traffic with horrid construction all the way through Salt Lake City.

Heading into the SLC area |

Snow, snow and more---snow |
Then, south of SLC, the engine started hesitating. In the middle of nowhere to be exact. Mona, UT. It turns out that the air filter was *sopping* wet. So much for the redneck water ingestion solution. It's still snowing and it's FREEZING. Thankfully my dh is uber prepared and had a spare air filter with us and the know how and tools to change it. The old one sat on the dash with Slippery Soap and we set off again.

Changing out the air filer |
Two hundred miles later, going over two 6600 feet summits with snow the ENTIRE way, we end up at the KOA. We miss the entrance to the campground so we have to turn around. As we turn around we go over a large bump and hear a very loud clank. We pull into the KOA only to find that, somewhere along the way, we had lost the nut that secures the ball hitch on the trailer. The trailer is now off the hitch. A trip to Napa for a replacement hitch and a SPARE nut has everything back where it should be (not without a few choice swear words and all around bad attitudes--from the adults this time).

At least the mountains are pretty |
Thankfully the snow stopped and the sun came out. Finally.
Of course, the advertised heated, INDOOR pool is actually an OUTDOOR pool and is closed for the season. At least the kids were able to use the swings.....

Ah, blue sky |
Here's looking forward to a better tomorrow.....

Blah! Sorry about the rotten day, At least Jake got an awesome pic!
"At least the mountains are pretty!" See, that's the way to think positive thoughts! And they surely are pretty.
I'm loving the story of your terrible, no good day! It makes for great reading. We have had our share of camper adventures gone awry as well. It makes for great tales later on....
Anyhow, I hope tomorrow is spectacular!
Susan
Love your storytelling!
JJ, your other Oregon friend
Some days are like that. Even in Australia.
